Raynaud’s Awareness Month

February is Raynaud’s Awareness Month and as we are in the throes of winter this is something that many sufferers will be struggling with right now.

For those of you who are unsure, Raynaud’s is when you have a problem with blood flow, so your extremities – like your hands and feet- get cold very quickly because your body can’t pump enough blood to them.

For those who suffer from Raynaud’s winter can be a difficult time with trying to keep yourself warm constantly and your Raynaud’s at bay. Aside from wrapping yourself up and staying warm, there are a couple of ways to prevent and avoid an attack.

Fish oil and Ginkgo supplements can improve your tolerance of the cold as well as slowing down the reaction of Raynaud’s. Cutting down on caffeine and avoiding smoking are also ways that reduce a Raynaud’s attack. Finally, making sure you exercise regularly can improve circulation.

So, if you’re a Raynaud’s sufferer make sure you keep yourself warm and get that body moving to ensure you keep your Raynaud’s at bay!
